Ethiopian won “The Rising Star Carrier of the Year Award” - 20, October 2015

Ethiopian Airlines, the leading, fast growing and the largest cargo operatorin Africa, is pleased to announce that it has won “The Rising Star Carrier of the Year Award” on Payload Asia Awards 2015 on a gala dinner attended by more than 250 members of the air cargo fraternity from around the globe on October 15, 2015 at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, Singapore.

Payload Asia 2015 is aimed at Celebrating Excellence in the Air Cargo Industry and Ethiopian Airlines has won on both Industry and Customer Choice Awards where over 76 companies were nominated with over 18,000 online votes cast for 22 awards in the Customer Choice Awards. All results, both on Customer and Industry Choice, were audited by independent auditing firm.

Ethiopian Cargo, the largest cargo operator in Africa, currently uplifts 329,000 tons of cargo annually and flies to 29 freighter destinations in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Europe using 7 dedicated freighters, including five B777-200 LRF and two B757F. The 6th B777-200 LR freighter will be arriving at Addis Ababa on the 22nd of October 2015.

Ethiopian Cargo Services is moving to a completely paperless environment and is using latest technologies for data, information and market intelligencewith 100% e-AWB (Electronic Air Way Bill) from its hub (Addis Ababa) and recorded 54.7% international e-AWB penetration while industry average is only 31.7% per IATA e-AWB penetration report of August 2015.  

By 2025, Ethiopian Cargo plans to uplift over 820,000 tons per year by operating to 37 freighter destinations across 5 continents using 19 dedicated cargo aircraft.
