Ethiopian Welcomes 262 Fresh Graduates into Its Workforce - 22 March, 2012

The Ethiopian Aviation Academy today graduated 262 trainees from the Schools of Aviation Maintenance Technicians, Marketing and Cabin Crew. At the graduation ceremony held at Ethiopian Headquarters, Mr. Tewolde GebreMariam, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines awarded diplomas to the graduates and achievement awards to top performing ones.

The School of Aviation Maintenance Technician graduated 67 trainees of which 22 have undergone through two years of Aviation Maintenance Technician Training with 767 and 757 Aircraft System Course and 45 of them took extensive training in the Airframe specialty. The training equipped the graduates with sufficient theoretical and practical knowledge to qualify them in their carrier as Aviation Technicians. The School has so far graduated 3,057 trainers since its inception in 1967 of which 2,191 are Ethiopians and the rest 866 foreign nationals from 49 different countries of the world.

The newly joined Cabin Crew members from the School of Cabin Crew have taken the basic classroom training, participated in safety drills and gone through rigorous on the job training which helps them to be qualified flight hostess to serve on board Ethiopian.

Today’s graduates from the of School of Marketing comprises of six batches of 145 trainees who are well trained in airport operations, ticket offices, cargo and domestic services for a total of 6 months. The School of Marketing wasinaugurated in 1982 and so far graduated 1,816 trainees.

The Ethiopian Airlines Aviation Academy was inaugurated in 1956 and has been providing trainings for Pilots, Maintenanance Technicians, Cabin Crew and Marketing and finance as well as Management training for its own and other airlines.
