Ethiopian Sponsors the 2010 Great Ethiopian Run - 27 July, 2010

Ethiopian Airlines proudly announces that it took again the title sponsorship of the 2010 Ethiopian Great Run, the biggest road race in Africa. The 10km run set to take place on November 21, 2010.

Great Ethiopian Run officially announced Ethiopian Airlines as a title sponsor of the 2010 Great Ethiopian Run at the ceremony held on 22 July 2010 in Addis Ababa. On the event, Director Advertising and Promotion of Ethiopian Airlines, Mr. Yeneneh Tekleyes received the 2010 race T-shirt from Athlete Gebregziabher G. Mariam, the renowned Ethiopian long distance runner and world cross country champion. After the official announcement, Mr. Yeneneh said, "Long distance running is close to the heart of Ethiopian Airlines. Ethiopian has a long history of supporting long distance running and played a significant role in sponsoring young athletes like Haile G. Selassie in their early years of athletics." He added, "This year’s race concedes with the delivery of Ethiopian’s new Boeing 777-200 long range aircraft, the first of its kind for Africa, giving us a reason to celebrate the long distance running culture of Ethiopians with the long range service of Ethiopian Airlines."

The airline has been sponsoring the Great Ethiopian Run as, “Official Airline of the Race” since 2006. For the second year running as a title sponsor, Ethiopian truly displays its affinity to the mass sport and its ongoing commitment to athletics.
