Ethiopian Introduces Web Check-in Services - 27 October, 2011

Ethiopian is proud to announce the commencement of on-line passenger web check-in services as of October 20, 2011 as part of its continuous efforts to enhance the traveling experience of its passengers.

The service will allow Ethiopian customers to check-in online avoiding the airport queues and last minute rush. Customers can now choose their own seats on line, update personal information, confirm special requests, print boarding pass, and proceed straight to the boarding gate. This is particularly beneficial to passengers traveling with no baggage, as they can proceed directly to the boarding gate through airport security. Passengers with check-in baggages will proceed to the baggage drop-off zone. This system will allow passengers to register their loyalty miles while checking-in.

Commenting on the web check-in facility, Mr. Gobena Michael, Chief Commercial Officer of Ethiopian Airlines said, "The introduction of the Web Check-in facility will increase operational efficiencies besides enhancing our customer services.”

The on-line check-in is available from 48 to 2 hours prior to the departure of international flights and from 24 to 2 hours for domestic flights. Passengers without check-in baggage must get to the airport 60 minutes before the departure of international flights and 45 minutes before departure of domestic flights.

At the initial stage, the web check-in service is availed for 32 Ethiopian destinations and Ethiopian will subsequently expand the service to the remaining destinations.
